Mariners’ Hector Santiago suspended 10 video games for sticky substance on glove

June 29 (UPI) — MLB has suspended Seattle Mariners left-hander Hector Santiago for 10 video games after a foreign sticky substance used to be discovered on his glove within the midst of a game against the Chicago White Sox over the weekend.

Santiago becomes the main player ejected and suspended amid the league’s crackdown on pitchers the use of sticky substances.

The 33-twelve months-usual Santiago is appealing the 10-game suspension, which used to be handed down by MLB senior vice president Michael Hill on Tuesday. Santiago is eligible to play Tuesday against the Toronto Blue Jays.

If the suspension is upheld, the Mariners also can no longer be in a position to hold Santiago’s roster discipline within the midst of the ban.

Santiago, who made his Mariners debut on June 1, started this season on the Triple-A stage. He has a 1-1 document and a pair of.65 ERA over nine appearances in 2021.

In 266 profession video games with the Chicago White Sox, Los Angeles Angels, Minnesota Twins, Recent York Mets and Mariners, Santiago has compiled a 48-51 document and 4.12 ERA.
