The statue of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee has been taken down in Charlottesville, Virginia

Heavy equipment hoisted the statue of Gen. Robert E. Lee from its stone pedestal in Charlottesville, Virginia, round 8 a.m. Saturday morning, AP experiences.

The gargantuan image: The elimination comes four years after the 2017 “Unite the Wonderful” white supremacist rally, when a total bunch of alt-correct supporters gathered carrying torches and indicators that be taught “white lives matter.” The rally then began attributable to protestors opposed the metropolis’s decision to derive rid of the monument.
